The Joriad™ North American Truffle Dog Championship

The Oregon Truffle Festival has fostered a community of truffle-hunting dogs and their owners through the annual The Joriad North American Truffle Dog Championship. At the annual competition, truffle dog friends and fans come to cheer for the dogs and their trainers as they compete to find hidden truffle-scented targets.

From Chihuahuas to Lagotto Romagnolos, dogs of all breeds are invited to compete in The Joriad, which is an amateur championship event. For the last five years, the Joriad’s first round has welcomed spectators at the Lane County Fairgrounds in the morning, and the top five dogs go on to compete in a second and final round in the field (not open to the public).

Note for 2021: Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and Oregon’s current travel restrictions, we have postponed The Joriad North American Truffle Dog Championship to January 2022. The safety of our guests, contestants and volunteers has always been our number one priority, and we feel that postponing this event is the responsible decision. In the meantime, we invite you to peruse some of our favorite Joriad moments below and hope to see you in 2022.
