Grape and Grain

A new weekend package, Grape and Grain celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit of the southern Willamette Valley, and includes truffles at every stop. Saturday’s tour begins after breakfast with a behind-the-scenes visit and tasting at Springfield Creamery, owned and hosted by the Kesey family – YES, those Keseys! – who pioneered the now famous probiotic Nancy’s yogurt back in the early 70s.

The tour continues with a wine and truffle luncheon at the storied Camas Country Mill. This farm and mill provides flour to the most celebrated chefs and bakers throughout the country, including Dan Barber’s Blue Hill restaurants in New York and Chad Robertson’s Tartine Bakery in San Francisco. Camas Country Mill has been featured in the Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal, and most recently in Modern Farmer, who described the mill as creating their own unique “terroir” of the humblest of crops: wheat.

Top off the day with a visit to 100 Mile Bakery, crafting food grown within a 100-mile radius of Eugene and Springfield, where more truffled goodies await, and the always sold-out Grand Truffle Dinner on Saturday night.

The weekend kicks off with the Spanish-inspired Truffles, Tapas and Taps on Friday evening, includes the Saturday tour and Saturday Grand Truffle Dinner, and closes with two events on Sunday: a truffled brunch and the Oregon Fresh Truffle Marketplace.

With live music and dancing, you might just end the night trying some paso doble moves!
