A new event preceding Sunday’s Marketplace!

The Oregon Truffle Festival welcomes James Beard Award-winning author Rowan Jacobsen for a sensory experience exploring the terroir of truffles. This interactive experience will take a closer look at truffle varieties from Oregon and Europe, the stages of ripeness, and will compare four singular agricultural products that reflect the land in which they are grown: truffles, wine, coffee, and chocolate. Jacobsen, whose books include American Terroir, A Geography of Oysters, Apples of Uncommon Character, and many others, is a truffle expert in his own right. His forthcoming book on truffles, set for publication in the fall, takes a deep dive into the fascinating world of truffles in Italy, France, Croatia, Hungary, and—you guessed it—Oregon. This special event includes tastes of these four agricultural products, plus a trio of cheese pairings from Beehive.

Tickets are limited and sold with admission to the Marketplace with wine tasting and glass. Cost for both is $40. Advance sales only. The workshop will start promptly at 10 am on Sunday.
